Shaan Ramaprasad is a producer, string arranger, and songwriter. His credits include Teddy Swims (Grammy® nomination), JID (Grammy® nomination), 21 Savage (Billboard #1 Album), Jungle, Ravyn Lenae, Jack Harlow, Elyanna, Monte Booker, Mika, A.R. Rahman, Cher,  the Jonas Brothers, Chance the Rapper, Hope Tala, Wizkid, Olamide, Rema, Lawrence, Yung Lean, 24KGolden, Luke Chiang, Mac Ayres, ELIZA, Jordan Ward, Jamila Woods, Asake, Rapsody, Muni Long, Darren Criss, SAILORR, Stella Cole, Gareth Donkin, KYLE,  Keli Holiday, Alé Araya, Benjamin Hightower, Xavier Omar, Reuben James, Samara Cyn, Theo Kandel, jev. among many others.​

Shaan recently music directed and played violin for Mannequin P***y’s NPR Tiny Desk. Similar projects include Wale @ the Kennedy Center and Mac Ayres’s Magic 8Ball LIVE.

Shaan has scored for Adidas (SS26 Superstars feat. JENNIE from Blackpink), GAP (Cult Gaia collaboration) and SoundCloud (R&B Documentary) both via sync placements and bespoke writing. 

​

Shaan orchestrated songs for The Voice Of Whitney: A Symphonic Celebration, a collaboration between Whitney Houston's estate, Primary Wave, and Park Avenue Artists. Through this project and others, Shaan has written for the National Symphony Orchestra (Kennedy Center), Chicago Philharmonic (Ravinia Festival), Nashville Symphony, and Firdaus Orchestra (A.R. Rahman).

Last year,  Shaan was selected by DJ Jazzy Jeff to attend his annual Playlist Retreat.

Shaan records on self-built violin, created under the guidance of Appalachian luthier JW Green. The two were guests on NBC's TODAY Show, with their story shared by US News & World Report. 

 

Beyond the studio, Shaan hosts 33 West, a concert and dinner series in Harlem that brings together musicians. Videos from the series have garnered 20 million+ views. 
 

Shaan also serves as an artistic curator for the Perelman Performing Arts Center.

Shaan earned a degree in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University, where he was musical director of the Melodores (vocal group).  As a student, Shaan produced tours with stops at Dubai's ChoirFest, America's Got Talent, and the Ryman Auditorium.​
